Patrick Kruithof surprises us again with this design that is already a reference in the re-use arena. Support for audio media changes rapidly in our constantly evolving society; in less 20 years we saw vinyl LPs, tapes, MiniDiscs, CD’s and now MP3 players. Patrick finds new functions for objects; vinyl LP’s are converted into fruit bowls by a process of vacuum forming that is used to heat and deform the plastic.
The shape has been designed for extra strength and grip to hold the bowl. A transparent sticker is put on both sides to protect the paper labels from moisture.
This design won the Professional First Place Award of the 1998 International Design Resource Awards.
